Mo-Chica
Today I hauled ass in the rain to try out “contemporary Peruvian cuisine” at Mo-Chica.
We tried the famous ceviche ($5). today’s fish was sea bass, which was great, but the leche de tigre was too acidic for me.
crab and potato salad (delicious and also $5)
Then I ordered this shredded chicken dish with walnuts and aji bread sauce. let’s just say i refused a leftovers...

coming to america
So this political refugee that i’m helping is depressed. he’s so depressed that i dont think i can ever again comfortably whine about how depressed i am when something’s not going my way.
But he’s also condescending, and he talks to me in this tone rolling his eyes like he can’t believe he has to explain this to me again. and this is where my understanding and...

Jacques Genin, master chocolatier
Photo taken from David Lebovitz
So, I just found out that a kilogram of Jacques Genin’s caramels cost 110 Euros.
.
.
WHAT?!
That’s 2.2 pounds, so 55 Euros for 1.1 pound of caramel.
That’s an incredible amount of money for some candy.

Gay Marriage Ban Faces High-Stakes Test In Trial →
I’m really hoping to hear some good news on this front soon. I’m embarrassed that CA is so divided on this issue. I guess I just forget that there’s a whole sector of citizens living north and south of San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Sunday Agenda
Lots to accomplish today, but before I get to any of that, I will be making raspberry thumbprints from this FN recipe. My scrapped together lunch will consist of leftover clam chowder (amazing, and from another FN recipe) and Korean fish cakes cooked in broth, which tastes a gazillion times better than it sounds. Then I will try my darnedest not to stuff the entire batch of thumbprints into my...
Yoga Diary #1
This morning, I had the kind of yoga class that made me desperate to go back tomorrow and take another class with this instructor. I haven’t felt that way since Siri Shiva stopped teaching at Golden Bridge. He was the first person to actually Teach me how to meditate. And help me understand why I needed to do it. He made me think of yoga as a lifestyle, not just a series of classes at the...
