Gyeongju retreat
My aunt and uncle built a gorgeous home in the Gyeongju countryside last year after my uncle had a stroke and decided to take it easy. He didn’t want to be too far from his home city, Ulsan, so they picked a lovely spot 40 minutes away. I had been meaning to visit them again all summer, but finally made it down there last week when I was fed up with my lack of productivity in Seoul. There I am in my $5 skirt from GwangJang Market.
Within minutes of arriving, my aunt handed me a bowl and told me to go pick some cherry tomatoes for a snack.
I spent the afternoon finishing an essay with a cup of iced tea and tomatoes
And then the sun was shining so warmly upon this rock that I laid down and took a nap. When I woke up, my aunt had placed a blanket over me. (Picture was taken later when the sun was going down.)
After dinner, we took a walk up to the nearby Gyeongju National Park. What a nice to way to digest our dinner, I thought, until my cousin had two servings of fried chicken delivered.
